Can I drive in Korea with an international driver’s license issued in a foreign country?

Yes, you can! Any person with an international driver’s license issued by a country (US, Canada, Japan, France, etc.) that joined the 1949 Geneva Convention on Road Traffic and the 1968 Vienna Convention on Road Traffic may drive a vehicle in Korea of the same licensed class for up to 1 year from the date the license holder entered Korea.

However, there are some exceptions. If you are the cause of a traffic accident while driving in Korea, you may be prohibited from driving in Korea even with an international driver’s license.
