National Health Insurance (The Self-Employed Insured)┃3.  Birth Care Benefits Payment  www.easylaw.go.kr



Q. Can I get care benefitsif I don’t give birth at a hospital?



 The self-employed insured who gave birth at a place other than a health-care institution for urgent or unavoidable causes may be paid health care costs corresponding to health care benefits. Article 49(1) of the National Health Insurance Act



A person seeking to be paid health-care costs from childbirth must submit the ①payment request for care costs and  ②one copy of the document proving birth to the National Health Insurance Service. Article 23(3)7 of the Enforcement Rule of the National Health Insurance Act



You can also be paid additional benefits for the medical expenses of pregnancy and childbirth if an application with the fact of pregnancy and childbirth confirmed by an OB/GYN or midwife is submitted to the National Health Insurance Service.  Article 24(1) of the Enforcement Rule of the National Health Insurance Act
