Can I get compensation for injury resulting from tripping in a bus by a sudden stop on my way home from work?

You may be entitled to compensation for the physical damage resulting from an accident while commuting by public transportation.

In the case of a bus accident, injured persons generally receive compensations through the compensation process of the National Bus Mutual-Aid Association. If a person agrees to receive it, he/she cannot separately claim damages under the 「Guarantee of Automobile Accident Compensation Act」 or the 「Civil Act」.

In the case of a subway accident, injured persons generally receive compensations through the compensation process of the insurance subscribed by the subway operating agency. If a person agrees to receive it, he/she cannot separately claim damages under the「Civil Act」.
