Export and Import Quarantine
Inspection of livestock products

In case of livestock products for which an import declaration has been filed,
necessary inspections shall be conducted before customs clearance formalities. Upon passing of the import inspection, an import declaration certificate can be issued.

Types of import inspection
Types of import inspection for livestock products are as follows:
Document inspection
On-the-spot inspection
Detailed inspection
Random sample inspection

Issuance of an import declaration certificate
When the results of an import inspection conducted on livestock products are deemed appropriate,
‘an import declaration certificate for imported food, etc.’ shall be issued to the person who has made the import declaration.

Handling of products not passing an inspection
Upon receipt of nonconformity notice as a result of the findings of an import inspection, the following measures are to be imposed on the products concerned:
i) return to exporting country, or ii) transport to another country, or iii) destruction, etc.
